Those questions you really NEED to know answers for before deciding!
How many servings shall we order for our wedding cake?
I always suggest to request from your baker less number of servings than guests you are having, mostly if the cake is to be served during the evening party. This is mostly because your day guests will be having a substantial wedding breakfast and most of them will not be that hungry. For example, if you are having 100 guests (day & evening), my suggestion is to go for 80 servings.
How do number of servings relate to cake sizes?
Here is an approximate relation:
8" + 6" cake: 35 servings (2"x1" portions) or 70 servings (1"x1" portions)
9" + 7" cake: 47 servings (2"x1" portions) or 95 servings (1"x1" portions)
10" + 6" cake: 52 servings (2"x1" portions) or 104 (1"x1" portions)
9" + 7" + 5" cake: 57 servings (2"x1" portions or 115 servings (1"x1" portions)
10" + 8" cake: 70 servings (2"x1" portions) or 140 servings (1"x1" portions)
10" + 8" + 6" cake: 80 servings (2"x1" portions) or 160 (1"x1" portions)
What are the HoneyShed wedding cakes prices?
My cake prices depend on style and size.
The smallest multi-tiered wedding cake I do is a two tier in 8" + 6", with four layers of sponge and three of buttercream filling in each tier, which will serve 35 or 70 portions (depending on cutting size).
Here you can see my starting prices for 2024/25:
- Naked cakes: £300
- Seminaked cakes: £385
- Fully buttercream-iced cakes: £425
Final price will depend on size, style and decorations requested.
How about decorating our cake with fresh flowers?
If you want flowers to be added to your cake as decoration, the best thing you can do is to ask your florist to supply some matching the ones in your bouquet or decorations.
Your professional florist will supply the lovely fresh flowers wired and taped, ready for me to decorate the cake. However I shall need a full list of the flowers and greenery to be used, in order to check on possible toxicity before using them on your cake.
